We were fortunate to have Carlos Ramirez presenting on “Bridges to Prosperity: Kanyiramana II Trail Bridge – Rwanda” this month. Video recording of this presentation is available below.

About this Presentation:

Rural isolation is a root cause of poverty. Connection is the foundation for opportunity. Bridge to Prosperity (B2P) works with isolated communities to create access to essential health care, education, markets, and economic opportunities by building trail bridges over impassable rivers. Since its founding in 2001, B2P has built over 450 trail bridges connecting 1.5 million people.

In partnership with WSP USA, B2P built the longest suspension pedestrian bridge in its history, Kanyiramana II Trail Bridge in Rwanda. The presentation will focus on technical aspects of building a 511 ft long pedestrian bridge with no heavy equipment. Presentation will also focus on the experience of 10 engineers traveling to Rwanda to be part of the project and the impact to the local community.
